County Sligo is a great, and grand, recreation park! It provides an array of open air activities that can compete with anywhere else in the world! We hope you can use our Great Outdoors section to discover Sligo for yourself!

Within 10 or 20 minutes drive from Sligo Town you can be enjoying vast stretches of golden strand; puffing up some of the best hill-walking in Ireland; playing on world class golf links; trail riding at some of Ireland’s best equestrian centres; watching or participating in world class surfing; shooting clay pigeons or targeting snipe; casting flies or wrestling a salmon ashore - or even a shark!

You can be cycling along quiet boreens far from the madding crowd; studying pre-historic remains; diving in fascinating atlantic waters; painting, photographing or just admiring millennial glacial landscape and walking through crisp fresh pine forests.
