The Institute of Technology, Sligo is one of Ireland’s premier third level institutions, providing a comprehensive range of courses at all levels and has extensive links with universities and colleges throughout the world. There is a combination of students from all over Europe and from outside Europe, 24 nationalities including China, Japan & Korea, mingle with Irish students. Currently 3,500 fulltime students and 1,500 part-time students have selected to study at IT Sligo.

IT Sligo offers students a state-of-the-art learning environment with lecture theatres, laboratories, studios and workshops all equipped with advanced technology where students gain training on sophisticated scientific, engineering and business equipment. There are superb sports and recreational facilities, which include floodlit championship playing fields and training pitches, a brand new athletics track and a large indoor sports hall. The college also has a dedicated student centre, health, counselling, careers and graduates services and international officer.

Qualifications:

Entry routes at different levels: Higher Certificate, Bachelor Degree and Bachelor (Hons) Degree. In most cases, having acquired a Degree of an appropriate level, it is possible to progress to post-graduate studies at Masters or Ph.D. level.
Career Prospects:

There are excellent career prospects for IT Sligo graduates. The Institute has developed strong links with Industry to ensure that all programmes of study are designed to meet the needs of today’s employers. We take pride in the range and nature of courses we have initiated and are continuing to develop them further.

International Bridging Course (IBC) available for students who need to substantially improve their level of English.

There exists a strong culture of clubs & societies in college: hill-walking, art society, drama society, Sub aqua club, rugby club, environmental society, swimming club, football supporters club and many more.

The quality of accommodation available to students is outstanding with state-of-the-art apartments, over 2,000 bed spaces available, IT connections to the college, private study facilities, meeting rooms and many en-suite bedrooms, all within walking distance of the college.

Transport:

Getting to Sligo has never been easier with flights from Dublin taking only 45 minutes or by train or bus with duration of 3.5 hrs from Dublin.

Sligo town:

Sligo town is fun and lively, with a large tourist through-traffic, plenty of student pubs, cafes and a vibrant nightlife. There are also a huge variety of g reat music venues in Sligo town - Irish traditional, rock, jazz and classical. Local and ethnic cuisine can be sampled both in the canteen facilities in institute and in the wide range of restaurants in town. The surrounding countryside and seaboard amenities are an added attraction. For the more energetic there are well developed GAA, Soccer and Rugby complexes. Other pursuits in the greater Sligo area include sailing, water-skiing, world-class surfing, scuba diving, swimming , fishing canoeing and mountaineering. Championship golf courses complement Sligo’s extraordinary array of outdoor amenities. There is also beautiful scenery with mountains, lakes and the sea all within easy walking or driving distance of
Sligo town.
