The Waterfront

Bar & Restaurant

The Waterfront in Rosses Point is in a stunning location with views across to Knocknarea, and – fitting for a restaurant specialising in seafood- to Oyster Island. In the foreground the calm waters of the estuary flow in from the Atlantic

On sunny days allow time for a drinkoutside to appreciate this lovely scene. The bar here is also an Off Licence, and the Waterfront Art Gallery is located beside the bar.

The Waterfront has several seating areas. At the front is the bar, stylishly decorated in yellows with lots of china, beer mugs and other memorabilia including old local and Sligo photographs. The restaurant is to the rear and is modern, bright and colourful with lots of soft blue and pink.

The food here is a good eclectic mix of modern European cuisine with an emphasis on seafood and fish, and has gained the restaurant a place in Georgina Campbell’s Jameson Guide and John McKenna’s Bridgestone Guide to the best restaurants in Ireland. Fresh local fish features large on the menu, including lobster, oysters, mussels and crab as well as prawns, scallops, Dover sole and salmon. A seafood platter is a good way of tasting a combination of some of these flavours and textures.

For meat lovers there is also a good variety, including steak, duck, chicken and often venison, and vegetarians are well catered for too. Unusual ingredients together with a different way of combining traditional flavours make for an interesting menu with a few unexpected twists.
